Program of Study: Paramedical Esthetics Program (Advanced Skin Care)

Program Objective:

To provide & enhance the skills of the Licensed Facialist & Medical Field Employees, responsible to provide Esthetic care, in the medical setting in, sterilization, lymphatic drainage, skin care techniques, fundamentals of the skin & deep pore cleansing, common dermal disorders, micro-pigment implantation, how to chart document & understand medical terminology, and the fundamentals on CO2 Laser skin resurfacing, skin peels, wound healing, and Camouflage Makeup Techniques that contribute to a successful facialist for the Medical Setting.

Admission Requirements:

Students must be 18 years old, possess a valid skin care license from resident state or proof of completion of a skin care licensing program.

Program Description:

This curriculum & Course of study is designed to instruct the Licensed Facialist and Medical Field Employees in the Medical setting in sterilization, lymphatic drainage skin care techniques, fundamentals of the skin & deep pore cleansing, scientific analysis of common dermal disorders, micro-pigment implantation, how to chart, to document & to understand medical terminology & fundamentals on CO2 Laser Skin resurfacing, skin peels, and wound healing and Camouflage Make-up Techniques.

Sterilization:
Having the student be proficient in sanitation with their surroundings such as instruments, disposable materials (gauze, needles, q-tips, etc.) universal precautions, compounds that are used for wet stations, and to be proficient in understanding bacteria and virus through innate and adaptive immunity.

Facial Lymphatic Drainage:
Understanding Lymph blood flow and how they need each other to be efficient. Demonstrate and hands-on training with lymphobiology and certain massage techniques that will help in every day treatments and pre and post op treatments with physician procedures.

Skin Care Techniques:
Demonstrate and hands-on training with up to-date techniques such as acid peels, microdermabrasion, massage techniques and combinations of the three.

Fundamentals of the Skin:
Anatomy and physiology and the properties of anti-aging.

Deep Pore Cleansing:
Description of certain physical, mechanical, and chemicals that are related to this particular topic. Demonstrations and hands-on training with extractions, applications and recovery techniques.

Scientific Analysis of Common Dermal Disorders:
A doctor will speak and have visual aids to show the most common disorders that skin care technicians will most likely see through their career. (Rosacea, actininc keratoses, squamous cell carcinoma, basel cell and melanoma…, etc.)

Micro-Pigmentation Implantation:
Educator will go over color theory, sanitation of instruments, universal precautions, proper techniques to administer color into the area of choice and proper paper work (informed consent, etc.)

How to Chart:
To become proficient in writing in charts and using different instruments, such as photograph, adding fundamental instruments such as Fitzpatrick skin typing, Glogau, etc.

Medical Terminology:
Using the correct terminology to chart and understand abbreviations while working with physicians.

Fundamentals of CO2 Laser Resurfacing:
Speaker goes over mechanics of laser, types of laser and intense pulse light. Train students in pre and post op treatments that are used to achieve a faster result.

Skin Peels:
Educate in the different types of aids used in the industry today. Skin typing (pigmentation and Fitzpatrick typing) and understanding proper technique.

Wound Healing:
Anatomy and Physiology: The stages in which the cells and proteins go through to mend a lesion.

Camouflage Make-Up:
Color theory, application and technique to cover a flaw or for postoperative use
