E-Elites Facial Technology program is designed to meet the high expectations of today’s industry.  Facial Technology provides training in cleansing and massage, makeup application and facial treatments. Students will acquire experience through hands-on training, as well as customer work. To obtain state licensing, students must complete 300 hours of instruction and pass written and practical exams.

Facial Technology prepares students for license exam for esthetician/facialist/facial operator.

Curriculum

Program of Study: Facial Technology

This curriculum and program of study concentrates on the facial procedures, skin care, diseases, makeup application and artistic use of cosmetics. This will also provide the students with a basic understanding on HIV/AIDS education.

Program Objective:

The overall objective of this program is to prepare students for careers in the diversified areas of skin care, including the cosmetic industry.

Admission Requirements:

An applicant requesting admission must have proof of the completion of the 10th grade or have a high school diploma or a GED. Students must also be eighteen (18) years of age. The applicant is interviewed by the school's Director to discuss the program requirements and content and the student's reason for application to the school. A student wishing to apply for enrollment is permitted to attend on (1) class session to determine their level of commitment and financial obligation. Credit from previous training or experience will be granted on the ability to perform an evaluation given by the E-Elite Academy.

Students wishing to apply for licenses must be 18 years of age or have a High School diploma or G.E.D.

Program Completion Time:

Students attending thirty (30) hours per week, complete the required hours in approximately ten (10) weeks.

HIV/AIDS Awareness:
Describe the differences between HIV infection and AIDS. Discuss protection and prevention procedures. Testing and counseling procedures for the state of Florida.

Salon Management:
Factors to consider when opening a salon. Types of ownership. Business record keeping.

Ethics, Personality, Human Relations:
Characteristics of healthy, positive attitude. Work ethic. Understanding and practicing ethics.

Chemistry:
Explain matter and the properties of matter and how it changes. Know the differences between solutions, suspensions, and emulsions.

Anatomy and Physiology Theory:
Know the importance of Anatomy and Physiology to the Esthetic profession. Describe cells and their structure, and define tissues and identify the types of tissues in the body.

Bacteriology, Sterilization:
List types and classes of bacteria. Types of disinfectants and how they are used. Explain safe sanitation, disinfection and sterilization procedures.

Disorders of the Skin:
Identify common skin conditions and disorders. Explain the different lesions. Identify skin conditions and disorders that need to be referred to a physician. Understand and recognize acne.

Massage:
Describe different types of massage and their benefits. Know the contra-indications to massage.

Facial Treatments:
Describe benefits and contra-indications of each procedure.

Make-up Techniques:
Describe the different types of cosmetics and proper usage.
Understand cosmetic color theory.
Demonstrate basic make-up application.

Hair Removal:
Explain hair growth and the various stages. Identify methods of temporary and permanent removal.
Name contra-indications to hair removal.

Microdermabrasion:
Describe the benefits and contra-indications of microdermabrasion. Understand the micro machine and how it works.
Demonstrate proper microdermabrasion procedure.

Cosmetic Ingredients/Product Knowledge:
Describe basic products used in facials. List the main categories of salon products. Recommend home care for different skin types.

Lymphobiology/Lymphatic Drainage:
Understand and explain the lymphatic system and how lymphatic drainage works. Name the benefits and contra-indications of Lymphobiology.
